Arno started his culinary career out of high school when he was 18 years of age.
He developed an interest in food and cooking as he grew up.
His parents contributed to his love of food and ingredients tremendously. Constantly going on fishing and diving trips around the coast. Back then they would spend days just living off the ocean, cooking, diving and fishing.
When hunting season approached they would pack up for long trips to Namibia, where they would hunt, butcher and process all that they needed for the year ahead.
This is where a great respect developed for ingredients and cooking.
Arno has worked in various kitchens around Cape Town and stages in Europe, immersing himself in multiple cultures and their different cuisines.
Using what he has learnt throughout his career has brought him to this point of opening his restaurant, Janse & co.
